The sound of silence...

Yesterday, I actually had the chance to be in my house, alone....

Now for some of my friends, this actually happens on a normal basis. For me, not so much.

Thursday, I stuffed my husband and all of his happy fun war gear on a plane and bid him farewell. He is currently in a far away state, playing war games and probably giggling like a little girl over the whole thing....Probably more like Beavis and Butthead actually - Cool...guns are cool....shoot...yea....lets shoot.....

But back to me.

Thursday, or also known as my Friday, I was happy KNOWING I was going to be able to spend time alone in my house.

I got up on Friday at the normal time, got the kids to their perspective places and came home and just SAT....seriously. I sat on my bed and did nothing.

And that is when I started to look around....and noticed the dust, the dirt, the clutter....and well...there went JUST sitting.

I turned on some of MY tv...and got to cleaning.

And when I say cleaning, I mean throwing stuff away.

About 6 weeks ago, I asked my husband to clean off his dresser. Then about 4 weeks ago, I asked again. And about 1 week ago, I reminded him that he said he would get it done.

He was warned. And he didn't heed my warning...

I threw it all away....now when I say all of it, I don't mean ALL of it. I mean the magazines that he had slated for trash, set them on the floor and then put them back on the dresser because the baby was tripping on them. Yea, I wish I was making that up.

I looked at every issue, to make sure there were no dog earred pages or bookmarks. And then I trashed them.

I dusted....good lord did I need to dust. There were small creatures hidden under those magazines. Actually - I found a pen that hubbs has been looking for, a hanger, various scraps of paper realted to my husband's job, and tons of dust bunnies.

See, what happens is I focus on cleaning the rest of the house - that by the time I get to my room, I say forget it. No one else will see it, right?

Not this time. I put my room FIRST....

After dusting and sneezing like it was an olympic sport, I looked at the ceiling and cringed....1980's pop corn ceiling has the ablitiy to hold more dust and dirt than old carpets do.
So out came the vacuum and the attachments, and I vacuumed the ceiling. WOW...it looks brand spanking new.

I love walking into my room now. It hits you instantly how clean it is. Now I want a new bed spread and new curtains and new sheets....goes to show - cleaning is a BAD thing..it is so expensive.

Now on to the rest of the house.....
